'No....no...not again!! Please don't do this'.... I stopped myself from
falling for the comfort yet again this morning. As I wrap up the chores,
fresh up, hold the smartphone with fully charged battery and move
towards the dreadful pieces of furniture that have altered my posture
and anatomy over the last one year.
The spacious and spongy
cushion-laden couch strategically placed beside the window, was my
favorite reading nook as it not only allowed me to sit but also facilitated
to relax in a slightly inclined position, as the book got interesting.
This also gave me a chance to just stare into the sky and project the
story onto the clouds at times!! Totally a fairy-tale like pleasure...
but with some strings, sorry layers of adipose attached!!
Then entered the second criminal, Table-mate, the multipurpose and work friendly modular table. Thanks to Tele-buy that has pushed its need onto the consumers by detailing the uses through a 5-minute ad looped and played on every TV channel. It obviously made its way into every other home in the city, as the company announced new deals, colors and features frequently. The convenience of browsing and working on the laptop while sitting on the cozy wooden couch was totally worth the investment.
Hours just slipped away reading, browsing and typing, with the ease of these newly added furnishings. The occasional shooting pain in the lower back due to the slouching and slanting sleeping positions on the sofa, was manageable with a few stretching exercises. I even winked away the cramps, numbness and tingling in the legs and the twinges at the back of neck as I became a permanent embellishment to the sofa-cum-bed, neighbored by the table. As I was segregating my old clothes yesterday, I came across a favorite dress among them. I tried it on for one last time and peeped into the mirror with the guilt of the mismatched fitting.... then it dawned on me and everything fell into place. Time for a quick resolution.... 'No...no more couch and Table-mate business!'
Really hard to part with my dearest partners in the crime...
