Parenting Dilemma

Is it easier for a child to overcome fear of uncertainty or trying something different, than for a adult? May be,... both of them have the same inertness to accept change... but as adults, we can rationalise and go about explaining things to youngsters for hours and bend their rules. We can even use the power to coerce them, just with the intention to enable them keep moving rather than get stuck. We push them into the change, expect them to be confident and move forward with a happy face!

Do we really take pride in doing this? As adults, do we get convinced so easily? Can we accept coercion? Can we put up that smile? Bearing all these in mind, should we let the child be? Should we let them hold on to their fears? Or should adults learn to lead by example? Are we actually leaders in any manner? Should we accept children as equals and leave it to their thinking and respect their judgment, after making our point clear?
