Life is a path set with pebbles of wisdom..the choice to pick them up or ignore them makes the difference!! I re-live the journey by penning it down!

Class Monitor
Small things bring loads of happiness....
Prithvi has been the most shy and silent child of the class since the day he started his schooling. Every time there is a Show-and-Tell, Elocution, JAM session or Fashion Show or a Role Play, it is a big struggle for both Amma and Prithvi. He prepares the script, mommy edits and he learns it. Back from school, Amma hears the most absurd reasons because of which the task could not be accomplished properly. At first, they were like... the teacher didn't call his name, the competition is done before he's back from the washroom, or the teacher selected a few students other than him. Then, he said it slowly as his voice broke at that time or he forgot the lines....
Knowing him inside out, Amma was with him and being a shy student herself, she could totally understand his situation. PTMs were merely reduced to discuss how calm a student Prithvi was, with a bright academic record and a B grade in oral communication. The feedback was generally that he is not loud enough. Thanks to WhatsApp... Mommy shares his home videos with the class teacher where he is shouting, yelling, playing and fighting with his brother, in an attempt to correct her perception. Daddy takes him to skating rinks and parks during the weekends, so that he could practice his sports. The only hope was to open him up and enable him break the ice. The parents leave no stone unturned.
Prithvi is promoted to the next grade and a fresh academic session has started. Rejuvenated by a happy vacation and equipped with new skills in drawing and swimming, he is all set to rock!! The dreaded day of PTM comes after a month and then, Amma is all tensed up ( no... I don't want to hear about how silent my son is...). Changing the expectations, the teacher never mentions his silence throughout the 15-minute meeting. On the other hand, she is happy to have such a student. Huge sigh of relief!!
Another month down the lane, Prithvi comes back with the news that he lost the quiz in the finals because he didn't know the answer for the tie-breaker. Mommy is relieved that he made it until there. Putting aside his knowledge and ability to answer, it is more about his confidence to speak out.
In contrast to the other parents, mommy is amused to learn about his naughtiness in class from the complaints in the Diary.
Another leap in the story occurs today when he comes back from school with a badge, that reads 'Class Monitor'. Amma's eyes well up when Prithvi narrates his experience of writing the names of talkative students on the blackboard and cleaning the board with a duster for the first time, that too with shining eyes and a husky voice (result of yelling at the classmates to stay 'silent'!!!).

Friendship Day
I
was thinking of the names to tag in the photograph....but then I
realize every person in the friends list has been part of a
conversation, or has been a companion or confidante or an ally at some
point of time or the other through the journey. So, just dropped the
idea.....
Happy Friendship Day everyone!!
Happy Friendship Day everyone!!

The New Age
Gone are the days of being shy and meek or superficial judging....
Strength of character and confidence in being yourself are the new
scales for eligibility (I dare say 'hotness coefficient')!! Stand up for
what you believe in and relationship status would just align itself
eventually. Don't just give up... after all, everyone has only one short
life to live!! Remember.... being true to yourself is the only
requirement necessary to connect with the one made for you!! More power
to the bold and courageous upcoming generations and broad thinking and
inclusive nature of the parents as elders (rather than feeling helpless
and cheated)!!
Bhanumati(s)
'Bhanumati' from 'Fidaa' and Bhanumati from 'Malleswari' seem to be singing the same tune..
The former croons 'Hey pillagada' and the latter says...'Parugulu teeyaali', with the same violin bit playing in the background
